Alan Parsons’ Art and Science of Sound Recording coming to OC Studio in late March.
Legendary producer Alan Parsons and Grammy-winning arranger and composer, Tom Brooks, will be holding a masterclass on orchestral recording at Santa Ana’s Hybrid Studios on March 24thand 25th. An orchestra consisting of A-list LA session players, including Vinnie Colaiuta and Nathan East, will be on site at the OC studio as Parsons records a track for his forthcoming album. This special event will allow attendees to witness how orchestral sessions are run and also be part of recording the first new Alan Parsons album in over a decade.
“Tom Brooks has been working out of Hybrid for a few months now,” said Hybrid Studios Co-founder Billy Klein, “We were thrilled when he proposed the idea of bringing Alan Parsons to the studio to do one of his renowned masterclasses. Both Parsons and Brooks’ reputations precede themselves, and the studio will have all hands on deck to make sure this special event goes off without a hitch. It’s really going to be a treat for everyone in attendance.”
Alan Parsons is not only a multi-platinum engineer and producer he is also an artist in his own right. Between 1975-1990 The Alan Parsons Project’s theme-based brand of progressive pop racked up multiple hit singles and albums including the classics Eye In The Sky, I Wouldn’t Want To Be Like You, and Games People Play.
Event co-producer and arranger for the session, Tom Brooks, has recently supplied Hybrid with instruments, microphones, and outboard equipment, including a Yamaha C7 Conservatory Grand Piano, numerous vintage AKG, Neumann, and Wunder microphones, and a ton of new FX units.
