Hybrid Studios, Orange County’s premier recording studio and sound stage has teamed up with renowned producer/engineer Darian Rundall (Pennywise, Suicidal Tendencies, Dokken, Yellowcard) for a series of workshops based on different aspects of the recording process.
The first of these events was held Sunday, April 10th and focused on guitar recording tips and techniques. Gear for the event was generously provided by Rivera Amplification, and session guitarist Justin Norman joined the workshop to assist in various demonstrations. There was also a special guest appearance from guitar tech Stephen Ferrera-Grand (Chris Cornell, Soundgarden, Neil Young, Billy Duffy). Topics covered ranged from instrument adjustment and amplifiers, to mic placement, DAW recording, and style development.
“For aspiring producer/engineers it’s absolutely invaluable to gain studio insights and behind-the-scenes knowledge from experienced, successful professionals like Darian,” said Studio Manager Mike Miller. “Everyone in attendance had a great time, and we’re absolutely looking forward to the next workshop!”
Seats to the event were limited to allow participants one-on-one interaction time with Darian throughout the day. Following the success of the guitar recording workshop, Rundall and the studio hope to announce the series’ next event in coming weeks and continue to grow the workshops into something special for music production minds across Orange County and Southern California.
